Marginally more awake, and doing some Star Trek style procrastination. Ah Saturdays, how I love you.

Okay, first off, I'm going to have a hard time choosing just one for a lot of these, so I probably won't. Just, fyi. :D

FAVORITE THINGS:

Star Trek Series: right now, it's Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek Movie: Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan still gets me. It makes me cry, practically every time.
Star Trek Character: Oh, no way I can pick just one. In no particular order: Picard, Data, Kirk, Spock, Chakotay, Tom Paris
Star Trek Paring: In canon -- Kirk/Spock.... whaddya mean it's not canon?? Okay, okay. In canon: you know, I was never really wild about most of the in canon relationships, but I think Dax/Worf might have been my favorite. Outside of Canon -- Chakotay/Paris
Alien Race: Time was, I would have said Vulcans. Now, hm, prolly still Vulcans with a side order of Betazoid.
Alien World: Kelemane's planet.
Federation Class Starship: I rather liked the Enterprise-E, which is a Sovereign class star ship. Otherwise, Intrepid class, the same class as Voyager.
TOS Episode: Spock's Brain. KIDDING! Just kidding. I would have a tough time choosing between Journey to Babel and The Tholian Web. Also I rather like Plato's Stepchildren, even if it kind of disturbs me.
TNG Episode: It's been a while since I've seen these, so I'm jogging my memory -- I remember crying during The Offspring, and something about The Perfect Mate always stayed with me (kinda of sexy; kind of ooky). Also, Parallels, which has one of the more disturbing alternate realities ever.
DS9 Episode: Sadly, I feel like I can't answer this, having not seen a majority of DS9. I'll have to get back to this one.
VOY Episode: Hm, golly. I love parts of Caretaker. Parturition and Before and After for the Paris/Kes, my secret favorite not-quite-canon het pairing. Tattoo and Nemesis for Chakotay. The entire arc that started with Seska leaving and the traitor Jonas and Investigations, ending with Paris totally saving the day practically single handedly in Basics, part 1 & 2. And also The Year of Hell, although I don't like the reset at the end.
ENT Episode: I'm still only on season 2 of this, so, well my favorite so far... I have a soft spot for every episode in which Trip ends up in his underwear, which, granted is like every other episode, but I love them. I'm all, OMG AGAIN?! *oggle*. It happened in the last episode I watched just last night (Precious Cargo). But, okay, for reals, favorite episodes -- I can't choose. They're all so silly. Er, Shuttlepod One, I guess, but maybe also Two Days Two Nights or Desert Crossing.

Star Trek Quote:
"Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature,
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature."
- Data, reading his poem Ode to Spot (Okay, I just randomly picked that one because it was cute.)

"It, ah, does something for you."
"Yes, indeed it does, Captain. It makes me uncomfortable."
- Kirk and Spock, referring to the garlands given to Spock in the episode The Apple -- (bahahahahaha! Also randomly picked because it made me snorfle.)

LEAST FAVORITE THINGS:

Star Trek Series: Well, I would have said Enterprise, but it's too silly and cute. I suppose DS9, at the moment, since I have yet to watch that all the way through.
Star Trek Movie: Star Trek: The Final Frontier
Star Trek Character: I hate to say it, but Deanna Troi, although sometimes she doesn't bother me.
Star Trek Pairing: er, either Picard/Crusher or Paris/Torres.
Alien Race: I'm dead tired of the Borg, I gotta tell you.
Alien World: okay, reading the synopsis for the TOS episode The Apple, I gotta say Gamma Trianguli is horrid.
Federation Class Starship: Honestly, I'm not going to go looking through pictures of ships right now. I think shuttlecraft in general are butt ugly, though.
TOS Episode: I was never particularly fond of The Man Trap or Charlie X. And then of course there's The Way To Eden and The Apple. Oh and The Cloud Minders.
TNG Episode: er, rather disliked the pilot episode, and much of season 1. Really didn't like Skin of Evil.
DS9 Episode: sigh. tbd.
VOY Episode: Vis a Vis kinda gives me the willies. Also the episode where Kes comes back.
ENT Episode: I don't so much care about Terra Nova. Or the crazy hallucinogenic storm in Strange New World. ETA: Oh! I should add A Night In Sick Bay, the one with Archer being a dick and they had to do that operation on Porthos.

Star Trek Quote:

From Spock's Brain -
"His brain is gone!"
- McCoy

"I never should have reconnected his mouth."
- McCoy

"Brain and brain. What is brain?"
- Kara (although, this last one is so bad, it's brilliant)

From The Way to Edan -

(placing his hands together) "One."
(returning the gesture) "We are one."
"One is the beginning."
"You one, Herbert?"
"I am not Herbert."
(to Sevrin) "He's not Herbert – we reach."
- Spock, Dr. Sevrin, and Adam, as Spock opens a dialogue (OMG, I totally forgot about "You one, Herbert?" and "we reach"!! I had blocked that from my memory. duuuude)

"Herbert! Herbert! Herbert! Herbert!"
- Space Hippies chanting

"I'm gonna crack my knuckles and jump for joy, I got a clean bill of health from Dr. McCoy."
- Adam

From The Cloud Minders -

"I have never before met a Vulcan, sir."
"Nor I a work of art, madam."
- Droxine and Spock (OMG GAG!!)

CHOICES:
Trekkie or Trekker? Neither?
Kirk or Picard? I hate this question.
Defiant or Delta Flyer? Delta Flyer.
Tribbles or Targs? neither! OMG. If I had to, Targs.
Coffee, Black or Tea, Earl Grey? Tea
Porthos or Spot? [livejournal.com profile] popfantastic wrote: Porthos trumps Spot, yet Data-with-Spot trumps Archer-with-Porthos. And I think I agree, except Porthos is sooooo cuuute, I think he might trump them all.
EMH or Data? Data. Hands down. Not that I don't love the Doc.
Pah-wraiths or Prophets? er?

Well, that was properly time consuming, and quite the trip down memory lane in regards to Star Trek: The Original Series.

Is your stance on Vulcans being modified by Enterprise and its craaazy Vulcans?

Oh, oh my god, I totally put the episode where Kes returns and they destroy her character out of my mind. Auuugh!

Paris/Kes is one of my quiet loves.

Someone in an unrelated post on my LJ the other week was saying that she thought the Seska plotline was dumb, and I have a big "bzuh?" reaction to that -- I agree, that whole arc was highly awesome.

Oh, now I so want to go watch Voyager.

Actually, you know, I think so. Except in the reverse direction. Because they're sooo crazy on that show, it's making me defend them!

Augh, indeed!

eh? I mean, the Kazon are a bit tedious, but Investigations still makes me all wiggly.

Yay Voyager!

*delurks* Porthos WINS! (I didn't comment on your original post on the awesomeness of Enterprise because I didn't read it until like a week later, but I just needed to say that.)

And my own trip down Star Trek memory lane ...

I lived out of the country when TOS was in production (Yes, I am that old, but only barely. I was a very small child.) I knew nothing of it, or much about any kind of TV, really, until we returned to the States, and it was being rerun. After school I would watch Daniel Boone starring Fess Parker. One day it occurred to me to wonder what the other networks were airing opposite Daniel Boone. I switched to a channel where three guys in similar costumes were walking along a gravel road. One guy said, "Once, just once, I'd like to be able to land someplace and say 'Behold, I am the Archangel Gabriel.'" A second guy, who had something funny looking about his ears, said, "I fail to see the humor in that situation, Doctor." to which the first guy responded, "Naturally. You could hardly claim to be an angel with those pointed ears, Mr. Spock. But say you landed someplace with a pitchfork... "

I was intrigued, and before long, enraptured. And I've been a sci-fi fan ever since.

heeee. That's cute. For me, my aunt was a shatner fan and must have watched the show when it aired. When she and her family got a VCR they lent it to us with some cassettes of TOS she'd recorded. Also, I think her husband was a sci-fi fan. Anyway, without my aunt, uncle, and cousins who all took me to see the movies and stuff, I don't think I would be a sci-fi fan. But maybe I would have found it on my own. My mom loves the later Trek shows too, but I was the one that made everyone in my family watch TNG back in the day.

Interesting!
