Hey, [livejournal.com profile] killabeez and [livejournal.com profile] tjonesy!! Look at this!

Wish I had loads of money. I guess I don't really need that letter, but I'd love a look at those books, and all of the photographs.

Via the Telegraph, rarely seen pictures of Captain's Scott's Antarctic expedition. These are from the ill-fated Terra Nova expedition, and seem to be mostly ship life, and then some at Hut Point.

I went to see The Day After Tomorrow this weekend. If you're into disaster movies, this one was really rather well done. The science, of course, is totally wacked, but you can buy into it easily enough, and go along for the ride. Dennis Quaid? Yum. And I'm totally warming up to the young actor who played his son, Jake Whosiwhatsit, the Donnie Darko kid. (yes, I could go look up his name, but I'm NOT, so there.)

I found myself much more affected by this movie than it warranted... )

Like the little Antarctica freak that I am, I was just enthralled during every single one of the freezing cold exterior scenes. heh.

~~~
I am quite possibly writing the most boring Duncan/Methos story ever. And I'm okay with that. *g* At least there's sex.
~~~

Can I just reiterate how much I hate livejournal as a repository for fiction? It SUCKS. And then it sucks some more.

~~~
(psst, Killa. Got the goodies! Thank you! *smooch*)
Okay, so, thanks to one of my best friends, S, I now have a good decent full-time job that I can stomach and that will last a few months, if not longer. So, that's good. Yay for friends! It's flexible and the people there are nice, and cool, and I like them, even! Will wonders never cease? *g*
~~~~

Because I know everyone is as obsessed with Antarctica as I am, go here and look at all these nifty keen Antarctica backgrounds. And also, while we're talking Antarctica, go read this fascinating article on the Antarctic ice-block Lake Vida. I know you want to.

Okay, well, *I* found it fascinating, anyway. ;)

My mom and I have been watching the West Wing together. She's a big fan, and it's fun to watch it with her because she gets so worked up, it's hilarious. Watching the Shadow of the Gunman arc with her was hysterical, for me, which is kind of evil of me, I know, but my mom all worked up is really really funny. heh.

~~~~
My cousin J and I spent some time together this Sunday, going to some local museums and stuff. We didn't talk about vidding ;). But we did talk about tv and he was kind enough to lend me the season 1 West Wing dvds for my mom. So, I was chattering to him about Alias, telling him how incredible the show was (he's never seen it. this is something I'm working on fixing. *g*) So he in turn tells me about how he's watching this new show Touching Evil. And I was like, Oh, there's an actor that I'm fond of on that show. And he goes, which one? And I, not knowing PW's character's name or anything about him or, well, anything (I know, I'm a bad fan. I suck at tv watching in general) I describe him a bit to J, but it wasn't until I mentioned the nose that J clicked and went "Oh, him!" hee. Okay, so that's not that funny a story, but it made me smile. PW made a lasting impression (acting-wise! not just the nose.) on J, which is nice to hear.
I'm writing. Writing at about the rate that ice melts in Antarctica, but there is writing getting done.
